Beep Beep!!!

It's Saturday morning and I'm so glad it's the weekend even if my lovely Hubby is working all weekend, But I can't complain at him as he has just bought tickets for us to go and see Simply Red in December, I love their music and can't wait.  He never treats me to things like this so it's a lovely thing for him to do and he's coming with me to see them even if it's not his kind of music, he's even throwing in a meal too.  He will buy me anything I want and never says no but he just has no imagination at all, so it's not that he's bad but just doesn't real give things much thought.  He leaves all that to me LOL!

So It's time for a new challenge today at Allsorts. This week is our lovely Jo's turn to host and she would like to see 'Use A Stamp', (no digi's), a perfect opportunity to make a Father's Day card.
Here is what I did, I used a LOTV stamp, and decided to go a bit grungy using distress inks and embossing powders.  The backing paper I did by over stamping quite a plain backing paper I wouldn't really use, with pocket watches and script and then distressing the edges, I really liked the finished result and seem to be doing this more to use up those papers I would normally cast aside.

Don't forget to head over to Allsorts for all the details of this challenge, and to check out all the fabulous inspiration from my very talented team mates.

Here is the prize on offer:-

For a full explanation, more pictures and the story behind this Journal please read on to the bottom of this post.

We have sponsorship this Month from

And of course, the Design Team have created some stunners to inspire you. Please do pay them a visit to their individual blogs - it means a lot to know you appreciate their efforts.

And now onto my second challenge creation for Penny black & More @ Allsorts, where the theme is 'Wings, Real, Fantasy or Fiction', I used my favourite Penny Black stamp Bitty Bear Angel for this.

We have prizes from Penny Black, All Occasion Dies, Sizzix, Kraftyhands   Now isn't that a lot of prizes, definitely worth getting your animal stamps out isn't it!!!!!!

Are you wanting some inspiration, pop on over to the challenge blog and then you can see all the wonderful creations from the rest of the talented team.

So here's more information on my Notebook/Journal:-
My Daughter asked me to make her a Notebook/Journal a while ago, she wanted it to be based on her favourite film 'Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd' I think she'd forgotten she'd asked for it as she looked really surprised when she opened it.  Now to make this I watched the movie so I could incorporate elements from the film, not my kind of film although I did think it would be more gory than it was.  It is actually a bit of a dark love story.

This is what I started with

I covered the front with vintage papers, tearing and using distress inks.

I added a punched border and lace down one side.  Mrs Lovett's dress has black and red lace on the bustle.

Here are all my handmade embellishments, The cogs are cut with dies then stamped with a matching set of stamps, I embossed the edges with my own mixture of powders to make them look old.  The images and posters are printed, I stamped and inked a pocket watch.

This is the inside of the cover, I made a pocket for Jodie to keep loose papers in.

For the heart I cut a red one then over stamped it, covered it with crackle glaze, then cut a scalloped heart.  I used a safety pin with a charm on to add interest to the heart.

For the film strip I stamped it then cut out the squares, I stamped some cogs and pocket watch, coloured them with distress inks and fitted them behind the strip.  I used glossy accents to glaze the whole film strip.

I added charms to some chain and hung them from the spiral, added some flowers and corners.  I think I covered everything, there is details of everything in the recipe below.

Recipe:-
Stamps -432J Bitty Bear Angel, Indigo Blu, Papermania's Chronology, Prickly Pear Steampunk Stamp set (CLR025), Dovecraft film strip,
Papers - Vintage from stash (Don't know the brand), LOTV Always & Forever,
Colouring Mediums - Spectrum Noirs, Distress Inks,
Tools - Grand Calibur, X-cut Border Punch, Mini Gears Die set Prickly Pear, Steampunk Die Set Prickly Pear, Spellbinder Heart Dies, Spellbinders Scalloped Heart Dies, Butterfly punch, Nesties ovals, Creative dies sentiments, Tattered Lace Panorama grass 334309, Crackle glaze, Glossy Accents, Embossing powder, Heat gun,
Embellishments - stickles, ribbon, safety pin, gems, charms, chain, lace,

This week is our lovely Wendy's turn to host and she would like to see 'Sport'
Here is what I did, I used a Papermania Nostalgia Pastimes stamp, and decided to use my Nitwit papers from Country Gents and Bear Necessities.  As we tend to, I kept it simple being a masculine card. So a ticket sentiment and some ricrac and that's about it.

Don't forget to head over to Allsorts for all the details of this challenge, and to check out all the fabulous inspiration from my very talented team mates.

Here are the prizes on offer:-
will give 3 images

Today's News:-

It was world Book day on Thursday at Bobby's school and they had to go dressed as a book character, so Bobby decided to go as Harry Potter, he had a stuffed Hedwig (owl), wand and snitch ball.  After all the coaxing to get him to dress up as he's doesn't like doing it, he was sent home at 10:00 a.m.  There's a Norovirus doing it's rounds at his school, and Bobby was being sick.  So poor little thing spent Thursday and Friday with this awful tummy bug.  Glad he's feeling better today as he is doing a parade around the pitch at Leeds Utd Football ground, it's with his football team that he plays for and he's so excited, photo's to follow hopefully.
So that means I get a couple of hours to myself, I have a couple of projects lined up that I want to do, so crafting it is.

Recipe:-
Stamps - Papermania Nostalgia Pastimes, See D's letters,
Papers - Nitwits Country Gents, Bare Necessities,
Colouring Mediums - Promarkers,
Embellishments - Ticket, ribbon, ricrac,

Midnight Fairytale Candle

Good Morning bloggers, it's Saturday morning so It's time for a new challenge today at Allsorts.
This week is our lovely Sarah's turn to host and she would like to see you 'Make A Gift'.
I decided to decorate a candle and make a sturdy gift box for it.  I used a Midnight Fairytale stamp as this candle is for my Mum and she loves Fairies.  I adhered it to a doily and added roses, sequin flowers and pearls.  Lots of sparkle to the wings and butterflies.  The box now that was a little harder, as  I had to make it larger than the usual candle boxes I do, to allow for the flowers and doily round the base of the candle.  I used cereal boxes to do the initial layout of the box, then used stiffer card to line the box to make it sturdy
Here's the candle:-

And a view of the back of the candle and the lid of the box.
