Light A Candle

Well what a beautiful week it has been weather wise, the kids break up on Wednesday for the summer holidays and I have my Aunts funeral on Thursday so a bit of a mixed week.  But a trip to Blackpool is in order to cheer things up tomorrow.  Pity my eldest son isn't coming but he's offered to look after the dogs etc...........
So It's time for a new challenge today at Allsorts.
This week is our lovely Helene's turn to host and she would like to see 'Anything But A Card'
So I thought a candle was in order for a change, I did think gift bag at first LOL but you might be getting a bit fed up of them from me.
I went a bit vintage on it using this La Blanche image stamped then coloured with Spectrum Noirs.

For the back of the candle I stamped a sentiment from Indigo Blu, some gold stickles dotted around and a die cut picket fence to finish the look off.

Don't forget to head over to Allsorts for all the details of this challenge, and to check out all the fabulous inspiration from my very talented team mates.

Eeeeeeek .......... Another Candle!

Good Morning bloggers, it's Saturday morning so It's time for a new challenge today at Allsorts. It's the last challenge for this year. This challenge will last for two weeks to give us all a well earned Christmas holiday.

This week is our lovely Helene turn to host and she would like to see 'Last Minute Gifts' Since this time of the year can be hectic you sometimes end up needing some last minute gifts. I have decided to do another candle as I need three more for gifts for family.  I do love doing them and have to do matching gift boxes to put them in.  This time I used a House Mouse image, can you believe I haven't yet used one of my beloved House Mouse stamps on a candle...........Eeeeeek!!!!!!

Don't forget to head over to Allsorts for all the details of this challenge, and to check out all the fabulous inspiration from my very talented team mates.

As our sponsor we have Marianne Design offering a surprise gift to a lucky winner.

So now in year 11 she is going a bit further on her English to get an A* and can take up a new subject which she has decided to take RE, now this subject is so different to what it was when I was at school.  I couldn't believe the subjects it covers, arranged marriages, abortion, war etc.......

A Christmas Candle

Good Morning, hope the weather is dry and still nice and sunny for you, It's hard to get as much done as I'd like to with the school holidays.  Although I did go last night and get the biggest part of the school uniforms.  Friday I think we are going to the Leeds City Museum, my youngest son is looking forward to that as they have a whole floor dedicated to stuffed animals, there's everything from Tigers, Polar Bears to even a Panda. Although I'm not sure what his reaction will be when he realises they are actually dead animals, he's so infatuated by animals and has toy ones (in the hundreds) all over the house and plays with them constantly.  Then there's a Mummy from Egypt, which I think he'll be OK with.

Now onto my candle, I decided to do a Christmas one using this LOTV stamp, I love this one although it was quite fiddly colouring it on tissue paper.  I glittered it too and added some glittered snowflakes.

The flower is made using the Poinsettia Spellbinders die.

Here is the Christmas sentiment I put on the back of the candle.

I also made a gift box for the candle, I die cut an oval to the front and to the back and added an acetate window.  Also added the same die cut Poinsettia to the gift box.

Here's the back of the gift box, showing the sentiment through the acetate window.
I loved making this candle, and not quite as hard as I originally thought.  There will definitely be some made for gifts this year, in some everyday designs too.

This is for the following challenges:-
1. The Hobby house - challenge 3 - Christmas
2. LOTV Ideas to inspire - Make It Festive (GDT)
3. Deep ocean - challenge # 57 - Christmas In July
4. Challenges 4 Everybody - challenge # 26 - Anything Goes
5. ABC Challenge - P is for ........ Post Letters, Poinsettia, Punched Border

Hope you have a good week

A candle For A Change

I went to a workshop on Saturday, It was at Lili Of The valley and it was with the lovely and talented Dawny P, She has quite a soft spot for my son Bobby, who put a shirt on for her, he's only ever wore it once before, he's a T.Shirt kind of kid.  We decorated a candle which I'd never done before, but will definately be doing again, I can see plenty of Christmas candles coming on, thank you Dawny.  She's so patient and really helpful, I love her workshops.
I met my Penny Black & More @ Allsorts teamie Susan,  Aww she's lovely, I really enjoyed having someone there I knew, to chat with.   I spoilt myself too with some new stamps and a couple of Nitwit paper pads. One of the pads is a present for a special friend though.  Bobby won a stamp too, with little Polar bears, it's called Igloo Bears, he said as long as I stamp it when ever he wants I can have it, I think thats fair LOL!

So now on to my make, I made this candle,  And I have to say it's so pretty in real life,  Dawny must put a lot of work in to get these kits ready, she did a brilliant job.  The image which is obviously LOTV called "Wedding Couple", and we did a gift box for it too.

Here is a side view

And here is the other side
