Mushroom Basket And Book Recommendations Please

Today I'm here with a challenge and also I'm looking for recommendations for books for my Kindle, see further down for more info.  Now on with my midway creation for Penny black & More @ Allsorts, where the theme is 'Black, White + One' So you can use black and white then choose one other colour  for this challenge.  I chose brown as my + one colour, using this cute little Hedgie.  I kept the card simple so that my Hedgehog was the main focal point.  Matted and layered with both black card and brown card.

We have prizes from Penny Black, Woodware stamp, Sizzix. Now isn't that a lot of prizes, definitely worth getting your animal stamps out isn't it!!!!!!

Book Recommendation Welcome
Image result for kindle paper white

So my Husband John and my Daughter Jodie put together and bought me a Kindle Paperwhite for my Birthday. I haven't read in bed for a couple of years now as it keeps John awake, I so missed reading in bed especially 2 & 3 o'clock in the morning when I can't sleep.  I am looking for recommendations for a good read. I read historical romance, fantasy and general fiction.  My favourite Authors are Josephine Cox, Lena Kennedy, Dilly Court. Philippa Gregory and William Horwood.  I have every book that Josephine Cox and Lena Kennedy have written and currently collecting Dilly Court and Philippa Gregory.  I am a bit OCD with my books, I keep them and can't get rid of any, I can't let anyone else read them, and I can only read new books, not ones from the library or a charity shop I'm afraid.  I have to collect every book written by the Author, and read them in order of the date they are written, this is where the website Fantastic Fiction comes in handy, I use it all the time.  If I like the book I can read them more than once too.
So I'm looking at the following Authors Rita Bradshaw, Katie Flynn, Rosie Goodwin and Lyn Andrews, I haven't read any of there's yet.  So if any one has an opinion on these Authors it would be welcome.
I do read other books, I read a lot of Auschwitz survivor books too.
I'd love some feedback on this and thank you in advance.

Thank you for popping by my blog.

Simple Elegance

Good Morning I hope your all surviving this cold and snowy weather, the one good thing about it is that while we are forced to stay indoors, we get more crafty time. So it's Saturday morning so It's time for a new challenge today at Allsorts.
This week is our lovely Mervi's turn to host and she would like to see 'Ladies Only'

As I had a bit more time on my hands I had a play, I'm not one for messing with inks, but thought I did some a bit back and enjoyed it, I'd do it again.  So I started by stamping the perfume bottle on a piece of white card, then embossed using clear embossing powder.  I chose two colours of Distressed Inks then applied over the card.  I stamped and embossed on a separate piece of card the perfume bottle, coloured it then fussy cut it. After stamping the image and sentiment I used liquid pearls to fill in the white space.  This is for my Mum, I tried to keep it elegant but simple to show the background I had made.

Don't forget to head over to Allsorts for all the details of this challenge, and to check out all the fabulous inspiration from my very talented team mates.

As you can see my favourite colour is Burgundy, I love red too but like the deepness of Burgundy.  I like it even better when teamed with vintage too.  I used a large embossing folder for the background, which was free from a craft magazine, the paper is pearlised and from my stash.

She's So Elegant

Thought I would do a quick post and pop this on, as i'm gonna be going over to my son's school as they are having a wedding party this afternoon and i'm helping out. This was for an order for my sister's boyfriend, he just wanted something elegant and vintage for his Mum who is in her 80's.
A lot of inking involved and I had a go at scrunching the music sheet, then inking and embossing the creases with gold embossing powder, i'm a bit of a neat and tidy crafter so scrunching and ripping don't appear on my blog too often LoL!

I would like to enter this for the following challenges:-
1. Sketch ' N' Stash - challenge 60 - I chose sketch 10 and my new stash is the music sheets.
2. Crafts & Me - Vintage/Distressed
3. Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes + Blog Hop

4. Cute Card Thursday - challenge 162 - choose a sketch

This is my chosen Sketch for these challenges, it is from Sketch 'N' Stash

Have a good day tomorrow

p.s. I have just noticed after I posted the card doesn't look straight, but everything on the card is straight and level in real life

Sir Stampalot Challenge and Birthday

It's the first of the month again and a bit of a special day for us at Sir Stampalot Challenge, because it's out Birthday.........woohoooooooooo..........we are one year old today. And what a fabulous year it has been, the support from all of you lovely bloggers out in blogland has been phenomenal and of course it's you who have made our challenge such a success. Thank you one and all. Now as well as our Birthday it's April Fools Day !! So this means not only a brand new challenge, but we've also got something a bit special lined up with a twist or two.

But let me tell you about the April challenge first, the theme has been selected by our very own Lady (Janice) Stampalot who has chosen: "Ladies and Fashion"

And here is my creation for the challenge

I wonder what you will come up with for this one, I can see so many possibilities and am so looking forward to seeing all your entries. For one lucky winner, this is the prize on offer from Sir Stampalot:

So now for the real fun bit.........this month the Design Team will be displaying their work on their own blogs only. And on the challenge blog we have a collection of photo's and pieces of artwork.............they were going to be jumbled all up, but that would be a bit too wicked, so they have been paired up.......a picture of each DT member along with a piece of their work which they have selected which they think best depicts their style of crafting, plus a snippet from their DT piece for the month. Have you guessed what you need to do......that's right, you have to decide which of our Design Team fits which mystery DT member. When you think you have the answers E-mail brenda@ibas.co.uk with your list. There will be three small prizes on offer selected from those with all or the most correct pairings that reach Brenda before 25th April. Any after that date will not be included.

This is also for the following challenges:-

1. Stamptacular Sunday - challenge # 104 - No Kids Allowed

2. Fussy & Fancy - week 33 - Use a zipper or a fether (I chose a feather)

3. Card Makin' Mamas - challenge # 18 - Embellish it

For Mum With Art Deco

A really quick post today, I have so many cards to make this week.

But first I would like to apologise to my fellow blogging buddies for not getting round to your blogs, over the last couple of days "MR BLOGGER" has been playing silly games with me, he won't let me leave comments on blogs, I do hope this is just a temporary thing and will amend itself. He's also playing about with my posts, he won't let me publish my posts with any line spacing in them, so I then have to go back in and edit in HTML. I do know some of my blogging friends have had some similar problems so at least he isn't just doing it to me LOL!

This is for the following challenges:_
1. Paperplay challenge - week 12 - Distressing
2. Stampin' For The Weekend - challenge # 6 - For Mum
3. Allsorts - week 96 - For A Special Lady
4. 2 Sisters Challenge - challenge 32 - Make Your Own Embellishments
5. Fab 'N' Funky - challenge # 66 - Shabby Chic
6. Ladybug Crafts Ink - challenge # 21 - Handmade Flowers

Have A good day

Art Deco and a surprise for me!

This is for an order with a specific colour combo and style - Art deco and Black and White. The image is a Debbi Moore stamp and the paper is from the Capsule range from Papermania, as always the large roses are handmade and the small white ones are from my stash, so are the feathers.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:-
1. Creative Inspirations - challenge # 33 - Congratulations
2. By The Cute And Girly - May - Celebrations
3. Papertake Weekly - Shiny, Sparkly and Special (the roses are stickled with star dust and my image is embossed with black embossing powder giving it a shine)

I had such a surprise on Sunday, my husband took me to our best craft shop that we have in Leeds, and they had a Cuttlebug on offer with 4 sets of Nestabilities all for £99. Now he knows that is my dream item and I have wanted one since I started crafting.
Guess what.....................He had got a Bonus at work on Friday and he has bought me it, I'm over the moon, can't believe I've finally got one. I don't have any embossing folders yet but saving the pennies as we speak. But I did get large ovals and scalloped ovals, and also large circles and scalloped circles for my 4 sets in the offer. Watch this space my cards won't have images in boring squares anymore, although I enjoyed stamping edges and inking and thinking up ways to make them more interesting.

It is Sir Stampalot's second challenge, it's the month of May and what better theme than Butterflies and Blossoms, a whole range of Tim Holtz stash is on offer this month, go on pop on over and take a look.

Hope everyone has a good week

Happy crafting

Going Art Deco

This set has taken me two days, it's an order for my Sister to give to my Auntie who will be 60, and I just couldn't get started at first, my mind went blank. Then I inked up these Art Deco stamps from Debbie Moore, and embossed them with clear powder. Then my Mo-Jo kicked in and I was off.

For the card I used Heirloom gold perfect pearls in a mister bottle and sprayed the black card and the handmade roses.I distressed around my image with Worn Lipstick distress inks then embossed some corners in gold. Did my sentiment on the computer and added gold glitter, gems and a feather.

For the Bookmark I embossed swirls in red and I did some in gold as well, I used the same distress inks too.

For the gift box I used some gold mirror card and scalloped down one side, added some black velvet ribbon trimmed with gold, then made a large flower. I stamped the butterfly and coloured with H20's and distress inks, added star dust stickles. I made a tag and added gold distress stickles.

I am entering these items into the following challenges:-

1. Sketch Saturday - week # 100 - Sketch (brilliant sketch and will definately use again)

2. Incy Wincy Designs - challenge # 39 - Black, White and one other colour (my other colour is RED)

3. Cupcake Crafts - challenge # 87 - Red and White
