Beep Beep!!!

It's Saturday morning and I'm so glad it's the weekend even if my lovely Hubby is working all weekend, But I can't complain at him as he has just bought tickets for us to go and see Simply Red in December, I love their music and can't wait.  He never treats me to things like this so it's a lovely thing for him to do and he's coming with me to see them even if it's not his kind of music, he's even throwing in a meal too.  He will buy me anything I want and never says no but he just has no imagination at all, so it's not that he's bad but just doesn't real give things much thought.  He leaves all that to me LOL!

So It's time for a new challenge today at Allsorts. This week is our lovely Jo's turn to host and she would like to see 'Use A Stamp', (no digi's), a perfect opportunity to make a Father's Day card.
Here is what I did, I used a LOTV stamp, and decided to go a bit grungy using distress inks and embossing powders.  The backing paper I did by over stamping quite a plain backing paper I wouldn't really use, with pocket watches and script and then distressing the edges, I really liked the finished result and seem to be doing this more to use up those papers I would normally cast aside.

Don't forget to head over to Allsorts for all the details of this challenge, and to check out all the fabulous inspiration from my very talented team mates.

Fairy Wings

Welcome to today's post which is a reminder for our challenge over at Penny black & More @ Allsorts, where the theme is 'Wings, Real, Fantasy or Fiction', I fancied doing something a bit different for me with my image and decoupaged it on the fairy's wings, I also decoupaged the ladybird and butterfly.  I kept this card simple as I quite like doing CAS now, before it used to scare the living daylights out of me.  The pink backing card is glittered which goes well with the sparkly wings and butterfly I did.  Some faux stitching and that's the card complete.

We have prizes from Penny Black, All Occasion Dies, Sizzix, Kraftyhands   Now isn't that a lot of prizes, definitely worth getting your stamps out for isn't it!!!!!!

Are you wanting some inspiration, pop on over to the challenge blog and then you can see all the wonderful creations from the rest of the talented team.

So here's more information on my Notebook/Journal:-
My Daughter asked me to make her a Notebook/Journal a while ago, she wanted it to be based on her favourite film 'Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd' I think she'd forgotten she'd asked for it as she looked really surprised when she opened it.  Now to make this I watched the movie so I could incorporate elements from the film, not my kind of film although I did think it would be more gory than it was.  It is actually a bit of a dark love story.

This is what I started with

I covered the front with vintage papers, tearing and using distress inks.

I added a punched border and lace down one side.  Mrs Lovett's dress has black and red lace on the bustle.

Here are all my handmade embellishments, The cogs are cut with dies then stamped with a matching set of stamps, I embossed the edges with my own mixture of powders to make them look old.  The images and posters are printed, I stamped and inked a pocket watch.

This is the inside of the cover, I made a pocket for Jodie to keep loose papers in.

For the heart I cut a red one then over stamped it, covered it with crackle glaze, then cut a scalloped heart.  I used a safety pin with a charm on to add interest to the heart.

For the film strip I stamped it then cut out the squares, I stamped some cogs and pocket watch, coloured them with distress inks and fitted them behind the strip.  I used glossy accents to glaze the whole film strip.

I added charms to some chain and hung them from the spiral, added some flowers and corners.  I think I covered everything, there is details of everything in the recipe below.
