With Sympathy

Good morning Ladies, we awoke this morning to a carpet of white, yes heavy snowfall and still snowing. Sadly this card, a Sympathy card, is not the kind I like to make and only ever have made one before, and it was a decoupage one.

My sisters next door neighbour and friend died this week at the age of 41 (OMG that is my age, so frightening), she died of lung cancer and never smoked in her life. My heart goes out to her family, she has two children and a devoted husband. Life seems so unfair.

My sister asked me to make her a Sympathy card and I didn't have any suitable stamps, so I used this church window which had Hollyhocks in by Judikins, I masked the flowers and embossed in gold the window. Then cut out the centre and stamped some Lillies from Great Impressions to go in the window instead. My sister was pleased with it, I'm not too sure, don't know if it could have done with something else on it or if then it would be too fussy for the occassion.

This is for the following challenges:-
1. Allsorts - week 91 - Inspired by nature (Lillies are my piece of nature)
2. Creative Inspiration Wednesday - challenge 99 - Plain & Simple
3. 2 Sisters Challenge - challenge 27 - Embossing (my window is embossed wth gold powder)

So because of the snow, I think today my crafty space is gonna get some much needed organising, especially my stamps. I'm putting them onto some laminated sheets and then into lever arch folders. I am also making my own catalogue of stamps to save me searching through my wood mounted stamps and my others, as my wood mounted are stored in trolley's with drawers. I have been trying to blog this week but I have my sisters old monitor as mine has broken, and it is blurry, so my eyes are getting a bit out of focus. So if I haven't visited you in the last wek I will try my best to pop by. It's just hard to sit looking at the screen for long lengths of time.

Recipe:-
Stamps - Judikins 23561, Great Impressions K47, Dovecraft sentiment,
Papers - Papermania Exquisite,
Colouring Medium - Distress Inks
Tools - Embossing Powder, heat gun, border punch,
Embellishments - ribbon, stickles,

Thank you for popping by my blog.
Have a good weekend
Happy crafting
Tracy x

A very sad reason to make a card....but it has turned out just right,I think.
No snow here....just heavy rain.

Hey hun, lovely sympathy card, I find these hard to make but this ticks all the boxes!! 41 years old is no age, terrible!! I am not far off that myself!!

Show us your cataloguing system when you are done, I must do mine, I lose track, especially with sentiments...i need to be more organised!!!

Hugs

So sorry that you had to make this card. 41 is my age too!! It is truly such a pretty card and I am sure that it was appreciated. xx

Such a beautiful card.
I seem to make them at the last minute. Which is hard and also stressful.

My daughter's friend's mom passed last week at the young age of 33. So sad.

Hi Tracy

Your card is beautiful .. .. but I agree with you they are very hard to make.

I think it is because the reason we are making them is a sad one whereas normally all the other cards we make are for happy reasons.

You have done really well here .. .. just a shame you needed to make it.

Love Jules xx

Hi Tracy,

How sad about your sister's neighbour - 41 is no age. Sometimes life isn't fair!

Beautiful card! Perfect image, beautifully coloured. The image with the window and sticking to the gold and white hits the mark, it's just right, not too fussy but heartwarming!

Hugs Sue xx
