Going Art Deco

This set has taken me two days, it's an order for my Sister to give to my Auntie who will be 60, and I just couldn't get started at first, my mind went blank. Then I inked up these Art Deco stamps from Debbie Moore, and embossed them with clear powder. Then my Mo-Jo kicked in and I was off.

For the card I used Heirloom gold perfect pearls in a mister bottle and sprayed the black card and the handmade roses.I distressed around my image with Worn Lipstick distress inks then embossed some corners in gold. Did my sentiment on the computer and added gold glitter, gems and a feather.

For the Bookmark I embossed swirls in red and I did some in gold as well, I used the same distress inks too.

For the gift box I used some gold mirror card and scalloped down one side, added some black velvet ribbon trimmed with gold, then made a large flower. I stamped the butterfly and coloured with H20's and distress inks, added star dust stickles. I made a tag and added gold distress stickles.

I am entering these items into the following challenges:-

1. Sketch Saturday - week # 100 - Sketch (brilliant sketch and will definately use again)

2. Incy Wincy Designs - challenge # 39 - Black, White and one other colour (my other colour is RED)

3. Cupcake Crafts - challenge # 87 - Red and White

4. Crafty Cardmakers - challenge # 19 - Desert Island (Distress inks, Stamps, embossing powders)

I just Love Poppies

This is my creation for the Rosie-D's challenge, where this week the theme has been chosen by Lyn. And the theme is "England/St Georges or Red and White".
Lyn has very kindly offered to give our winner a Surprise.
So please pop on over and see the rest of the DT great creations and join in too.

I had a really good old play with this one, I don't know if you can see but I used some perfect pearls in gold heirloom, in my mister and sprayed the backing paper and the flowers. They were in my Tim Holtz kit from QVC, I've never used these before, and I like the effect I got with them. Now I want more mister bottles and pearls, they are addictive. Her wings are covered in Star Dust stickles, and I used Promarkers to colour this as I wanted strong colours for the Poppies.

A different request

I had a request from a friend who wanted a card for some relatives who had just become Grandparents, never done one before, so I asked her what she wanted on it and she said the ones in the shops are like a new baby card but with grandparents on. She also wanted it in a gift box, and this is what I came up with. She was very happy with it, in fact she's asked me to make another one the same for someone else. Obviously the baby is a girl, but I adore gingham and this is the only gingham paper I had, but it suits baby things so well I think.

A Vintage Hug

Both my boys are now on antibiotics, one for tonsilitis and the other for a chest infection, so now they are both picking up nicely, I though i'd have a play around at my craft desk. I loved the idea of the Die Cut Dreams challenge, vintage with no colouring. So I stamped my image with Brushed Corduroy then embossed with clear powder, I also embossed flourishes around the image then distressed with ink. I found a gorgeous layout on Stamptacular Sunday by Marianne, and used it for this creation. All the papers are from Regency - Papermania.

This is for the following challenges:-
1. Totally Papercrafts - challenge # 11 - Distressing
2. Die Cut Dreams - challenge#43 - Vintage with no colouring
3. Sophisticats - challenge # 29 - So Distressing
4. Cuopcake Crafts - challenge # 86 - Childhood Memories
5. Stamptacular Sunday - challenge # 54 - Spots and Dots

Well it's a very dull day here today, started off nice this morning but went rather dull very quickly, hope your having better weather.

My first Sweet Pea!

I have been loving the Sweet Pea stamps that are around blogland at the moment, and I was so lucky to win one from the lovely Debby at Passion For Crafts, it was this gorgeous mermaid called September Rhythm. I now really want to get some more, they are a joy to play with. Now for those of you like me has only just had their Tim Holtz Qvc set 2 weeks ago, and just started to play, have you tried that Distress Rock Candy, wow what a result. I wanted my mermaid to look like she's just got out of the water and was all wet. So after my inks, H20's and stickles star dust was all dried, I covered the image in the Rock Candy. And this is the result.

My background is just plain card which I stamped using the V&A background stamp in Distress Inks Stormy Sky, The ribbon looks wonky on this, (why do my cards always look concaved in photo's) it is straight, and this gorgeous ribbon was a pressie and so are the gems in my flowers from the lovely Susie my DT Boss for my birthday. I know the gems are available on her on-line shop Die Cut Dreams.

The flowers are my own handmade, and the button dropped of my daughter knickers and I found it in the bottom of the washer and looks far better on my card than on her pants, will she notice?

The dream ticket I got from My friend Lisa from her shop here, and distressed it with stormy sky.

This is for:-

1. Crafts And Me - challenge ! - Sweet Pea, Fairies or Wings (I used a Sweet Pea)

2. Sketch And Stash - challenge 32 - Sketch

3. Paperplay Challenges - week 14 - Shiny Happy People (I used rock candy for an all over shimmer and stickles for the tail)

4. C.R.A.F.T. - challenge 45 - Free choice but with buttons

5. By The Cute And Girly - April challenge - Fairytales

6. Cute Card Thursday - challenge 107 - Mono-Mania (I used all blues)

7. Sweet Pea Stampers - week 3 - At the bottom of the garden (she is surrounded in flowers)

Twins and an Update

I made these cards for my twin nephews, they have everything identical and argue if not. They love to play football and I made sure they had their names on the footie shirts.

I'm entering this if for:-

A spoonful of Sugar - challenge # 98 - "One for the boys"

Now just when you think everything is getting back to normal something else happens. I was up through the night again with Bobby, he was running a high temperature and his cough just doesn't seem to be shifting at all. And he sounded really horse and a sore throat. So off to the docotors, to find out he has severe tonsilitis, and is full of mucous as the Doc put it. They have now put him on antibiotics, but we enquired about his croup while we were there, as the hospital last week asked us why he didn't have an Inhaler for his croup. The doctors said he doesn't get it often enough, we said that we don't bring him every time as you told us there's not much you can do, just advise steaming. Now they are telling us if we took him to the Doctors every time they would have considered giving him something for it.

Well you can bet your last penny he'll be at the doctors with every single bout of croup now. He's 4 why do they make them suffer, I'm so mad! Enough ranting I think.

Sadly this is the last ever challenge for Susie's Sassy challenge, and the final theme is "Me And My Pet", we are using Digi's given to us by our sponsor Di's Digi's. The Prize is 2 images from her shop.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all the girls on the team for being lovely girls to work along side of.

And a sincere thank you to Susie for believing in me and giving me a chance and my first position on a design team.

I would also like to enter it for the following challenges:-

3. Sophisti-cats - challenge # 28 - "Raining cats and dogs"

4. Totally Papercrafts - challenge # 10 - "Lets go digital"

5. ABC Challenge - "R is for RED"

All day yesterday I couldn't access e-mail or blogger as my server went down and I haven't been able to use the computer.
Then my Hubby was bored and suggested that we should move my crafting out of the hallway and into the back of the living room, then he's not sat on his own on an evening. That was one of those jobs you wished you hadn't started, as then I'd to tidy everything out too. But could it be a ruse, so i'm there to keep my eye on the kids and he's not left with them on his own Lol!

Have a great week

Hugs!!

Oh i'm so glad to be back at my crafting desk, I haven't been there for a week. My son is just fine now apart from a cold and cough the croup has left him with, but up to no good as usual. I really enjoyed making this card for some challenges, even though I have quite a few orders and some DT work that needs to be done. I have managed to get myself a couple of new colours in distress inks, "worn lipstick and stormy sky", which I have used today, I now have 8 colours. I used them to paint with as well as distressing with them, but could never quite get the technique right or the shading, and when I distressed round the edges it went blotchy.
So I got in touch with the lovely Kim, who was ever so helpful, Thank you Kim, what a lovely lady you are. She told me which card to use to stamp on and Voila! so much easier. She gave me tips on distressing round the edges too, and now i'm really happy with how i've progressed.
My Tim Holtz, QVC package came last week too, and I've only just unpacked it all and started using the blending tool, wow so much easier too.

This creation is for:-
1. Create 4 Fun - week 14 - Sketch
2. Simon Says Stamp - "It's so distressing"
3. Crafty Creations - challenge # 61 - Anything goes
4. Stamptacular Sunday - challenge # 53 - Sugar and spice (For the girls)
5. Cupcake Crafts - challenge # 85 - Make your own flowers
6. Creative Card crew - challenge # 47 - Vintage/Aged
7. Lili Of The Valley - challenge # 50 -Include Blue and Silver
8. Crafty Cardmakers - challenge # 18 - A Challenging challenge - ( first time using a distressing tool)

Sir Stampalot Brand New Challenge!

Good Morning and very warm welcome to you all from everyone at the Stampalot Challenge. The day we have all been eagerly awaiting has finally arrived, it's seemed forever coming and we really have all been bursting at the seams for the chance to share all our excitement with you. Over the coming months we have some fantastic themes lined up for you, along with some fabulous prizes from Sir Stampalot. Our challenges will each run for a month, you all want to know what theme and what you could win. Our first theme is:
"Fantasy"
It is entirely up to you what you create and how you interpret the theme and we are so looking forward to visiting you all and seeing your wonderful creations. Sir Stampalot have been so generous with the winners prize .......pinch yourself first because it's:
A Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter
PLUS a Pooh Font Cartridge

How fabby is that and if the opportunity to win that doesn't get your creative juices flowing, then I don't know what will. And of course we will also be selecting our Top 3 who will be able to display our special logo. The rest of the oh so talented Design Team have come up with some awesome projects so please do go and visit them and see how they have been creative .
Now onto my creations:-
My first is a card, using the Lavender fairy image, and painted with H20's and distress inks. I have used some beautifully delicate lace and then I have sewn Diamante's on. I have used stickles to give her a magical sparkle.
Then I decided to have a play about at my craft desk and made myself a file to keep all my sketches together. It is held together with a book ring, and i have made a charm out off shrinkables, my first time using them. When I find a good sketch or i draw one of my own, i keep them all together, but now i'll just keep adding them to this file and it looks pretty hung up at my desk too. I have to be organised as my craft space is small.

So I do hope i'll see you joining in, have a good day

Time For Tea!

The image on this card is from Karen's Doodles and it is so cute and lovely to work with, it is called Herbert and Bigsby - Time for tea. The papers are Papermania's Rose Garden, the flowers are handmade, see lower down this post for some info on them. I have had a bit of a change to day and used promarkers, getting a bit better with them.

This is for:-

1. Karen's Doodles - challenge # 3 - Sketch

2. Colour Create - challenge 41 - Pastels + Spring

3. Cute Card Thursday - challenge 105 - Dimensions ( you will find dimention in my flowers and butterfly)

5. Creatalicious - challenge # 8 - Favourite drink (my favourite drink is a nice cup of TEA)

I would like to say a big thank you to all the well wishers that sent their best wishes for my Hubby, he came through the operation really well and avoided any severe bleeding that the Doctors were expecting. He is now resting up at home and is doing really well, but he is at home for two weeks, so don't know how much crafting i'll get done.

Now for something else, my good friend Fiona does the most beautiful handmade flowers and she had put them on my birthday card, my 14 year old son Scott saw them and thought they were great, now he wanted to make them too, but we didn't have the right punches, so he has used some we have, and taken Fiona's flowers and altered them to suit our punches. Hope you don't mind Fiona!

Scott made the purple and the blue and white one, then he showed me and I made the yellow polka dot one which I then used on todays card. Well done Scott, i will be using these a lot more since I don't own many fabric flowers (Prima's etc). They will be seen now along with the handmade roses i already make.

Now I would like to remind you all about the Sir Stampalot challenge which starts on Thursday 1st April. So pop on over and become a follower so you will be reminded when it starts, and your in for a real treat for the first challenge, the DT has worked hard and come up with some gorgeous creations.

I love this image, Hanglar are just so cute. The sentiment stamp is from a set I won in a candy from the lovely Janiel, thanks love, and the papers are Daisy And Dandelion. I have used stickles on the egg.

I've had a rough couple of nights as Bobby has gone down with croup again, Tuesday night was spent in the bathroom steaming him, it was touch and go this time to whether an Ambulance was needed. He started at 12.10am, I suppose it's classed as Wednesday morning not Tuesday night. It was 4.00am before we even moved back to the bedroom. The doctors told us they usually grow out of it by 5/6 years and he's just gone 4, so hopefully there won't be too many of these bad attacks. On a good note we got through with a bathroom full of steam and some breathing techniques. Although he needed a couple of medicenes for the pains in his throat and chest, also to help the coughing, or should I say barking. He's picking up now and getting back to his usual self. I just need to catch up on some sleep now.

Crafty Cardmakers want to see a female somewhere on your card, I have used a gorgeous Hanglar girl. While at Stamp Something they want to something Girly. It's Flower Power over at Cupcake Crafts, and with some kind of celebration at Creative Card Crew, and I'm doing Easter for mine. And at C.R.A.F.T. they are looking for Citrus colors and there's plenty of lemon and lime on my card. Flutterby Wednesday have an open theme this week and there's a punched butterfly on this card.

Well we have sunshine today and no snow, now I feel spring is on it's way although there is still a very cold nip in the air. This is my very first easel card and I was surprised at how easy they are, but that could be thanks to the Whiff Of Joy tutorial, found Here. It's my 15th Wedding Anniversay on Monday the 8th March, so this card is for my hubby. We are like best friends and we always say we are soul mates. We do everything and go everywhere together 99% of the time.
Lili Of The Valley got me trying the easel card as it's their theme, and I always do their challenges and the prize of two gorgeous stamps, is just what I could do with, so thank you Lily Of The Valley. If you like Buttons, Bows, Brads and Bling the Papertake Weekly challenge is for you this week. Then you can "Go Back To Nature" with Passion For Promarkers, I'm still getting to grips with Promarkers, i'm not too brilliant, but I haven't given up so that's why I've used them today, I am getting better though. And use the colour Green for Cute Card Thursday which also lends itself to Stampin For The Weekend with there Monocramatic theme. Creative Craft Challenges' theme is Thanks A Bunch and you can interpret this however you wish, so I am saying "Thanks a bunch for being my Husband".

Hope you all have some sun where you are today.

The Evening Gown

This is for my Mum for Mother's day, there is a card, and a gift box for it and then using oddments I altered a note book. There's lots of sparkle although it doesn't show very well on the photo.

These are for:-

1. Colour Create - challenge 39 - Red, black, Off white and brads

2. Allsorts - week 41 - A card/gift for mother's Day

3. Simon Says Stamp - Vintage with Flowers

4. Creatalicious Challenge - challenge 7 - Create a little something

5. Cute Card Thursday - challenge 101 - Ribbon

6. C.R.A.F.T. - challenge 39 - Ribbon and sparkle

I did a card similar to this one last week for a 21st, it had a different image on it and different embellies, but I have used the same In My Minds Eye papers. I have stamped the Butterfly, then painted it then glittered with stickles and cut it out. I have used feathers again I love using them on my cards, especially vintage ones.

Colour Create has a colour combo of Red, Black and Off White, just my colours, they are my favourites and there is an added optional of using silver brads only I glittered mine for the centre of my flowers on the note book. Make a gift/card for Mother's day and join in Allsorts challenge, that's what I've done. Go Vintage with flowers for Simon Says Stamp. And it's a theme of "Create a little something" for Creatalicious, and I've created a matching card, notebook and box for it. Cute Card Thursday want to see ribbon. And it's ribbon and sparkle for C.R.A.F.T. challenge.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday

Vintage Magnolia

This is for:-
1. Just Magnolia - week 43 - sketch
2. Simon Says Stamp - Vintage with flowers
3. Sophisti-cats - challenge 23 - Embossing wet or dry
4. Saturday Spotlight - "Doing the mess around"

5. C.R.A.F.T. - challenge 39 - Ribbons and Sparkle

6. Cute Card Thursday - challenge 101 - Ribbon

I really enjoyed making this card, I distressed around the edges of the image then stamped some flourishes and then glittered some flourishes every so often. Then I distressed around the edges of the papers and flowers. The flowers have also been stamped with versamark using a flourish stamp then embossed with a clear embossing powder, but the photo doesn't pick it up too well.

The sketch is fabulous and I will use it again and it's from Just Magnolia. The theme for Simon Says Stamp is Vintage with Flowers. Sophisti-cats want us to use Embossing, it can be wet or dry, I have done wet as I've embossed flourishes onto my flowers with clear embossing powder, to give them a nice shine . It's not showing up too well though, we just don't have any light here at the moment its so dull and rainy. Distressing is this weeks theme over at Saturday Spotlight and all my papers and flowers have been distressed. C.R.A.F.T. want to see Ribbons and sparkle and my ribbon is some lovely white organza and my sparkle is around the outside of the image. Cute Card Thursday want you to use ribbon this week.

Susie's Sassy Challenge

This week over at Susie's Sassy challenge our theme is "Aqua and Lilac", and the theme was chosen by our lovely Lisa. And we are being sponsored by Prairie fairies. We have been given a couple of images to work with and they are lovely. The prize this week is 3 Digi images from their store.

This is also for:-

1. Fussy and Fancy Friday - challenge 4 - "Dazzle Us"

2. Stamp Something - "Touch Of Spring"

3. Creative Inspirations - challenge # 28 -Thank You Card

4. Flutterby Wednesday - challenge # 98 - "open week"

5. Incy Wincy designs - challenge 31 - Touchy feely

6. Crafty Creations - challenge # 56 - Cut It Out And Pop It Up

Wow wasn't Tuesday a fab day, I had QVC on practically all day, and hopelessly tried to convince my Hubby that I really Needed the Tim Holtz special, the book with the extra goodies. Eventually he gave in and gave me his card and I got it, the only thing is though I had to get it on Advanced order so I won't receive mine till after the 22nd march. So that means It'll be for my Birthday on the 25th March. I just can't wait to play with it and learn some new techniques too. But wasn't Tim every womans dream, his demo's were great and I really enjoyed watching him. A very inspiring man.

Back to the card, "Dazzle us" is what Fussy and Fancy Friday have asked us and there's plenty of glitter to dazzle with. Stamp Something would like to see a "Touch Of Spring" and although it isn't yellows and greens, I still think it says spring with the chicks in the nest and the flowers, butterflies and dragonflies. Thank You is the theme for Creative Inspirations. Flutterby Wednesday has an "Open Week" this week. Then Incy Wincy Designs want some "Touchy Feely" and my touchy feely is the flowers, and the rest of my embellies, the butterflies, Dragonflies, my button, glitter and ribbon, it all gives it a tactile feel to it. Crafty creations want to see "Cut it out and pop it up", well I've cut (punched) my butterflies and dragonfly and raised them with silicone and bent the wings to make them pop up.

In The Red

This is for:-
1. Creatalicious Challenge - challenge # 7 - "Create a little something"
2. Incy Wincy Design - challenge 30 - "Punch it out"
3. Totally Papercrafts - challenge # 4 - "Lots Of Spots"
4. Tellen'sPlace - challenge # 6 - Birthdays
5. Cute Card Thursday - challenge # 100 - "Metal Mania
6. Saturday Spotlight - "Doing the mess around"

This card and gift box is an order for my mum's friend. It's for her Granddaughter's 21st, and she was quite precise as to what she wanted. She chose the image first, then requested - glitter, handmade roses, feathers, beaded stems, a key, and charms. Then there were a lot on the card it needed a gift box rather than an envelope. Near the end I was starting to think is there too much, what do you think?

Creatalicious Challenge asked us to "create a little something", so I would say this card in the gift box is a little bit more that a normal card that I would make. Punch It Out is the theme for Incy Wincy Designs, and my handmade roses are made from punched flowers. Do you like spots? thats the theme this week over at Totally Papercrafts, there's spotted papers on my card. You can only have 5 other challenges with Totally Papercrafts and luckily that was the only challenges this would fit into anyway. The subject is Birthday over at Tellen's Place, and I think a 21st is quite a special birthday. Cute Card Thursday want you to use something Metal and I have charms on my card. Saturday Spotlight wants to see distressing with ink and all my DP papers have been distressed around the edges with Aged Mahogany distress inks.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend and are ready for the start of a new week, we woke up to a lovely thick blanket of snow this morning, it looks beautiful.

Rosie-D's challenge

It's challenge time again over at Rosie-D's challenge blog, and this week we are sponsored by Digital Ink. The theme is "Just For Men", and we had some images to use from Digital Ink and they are also giving away some free Digi's as a prize . I chose this T.Bird car, and my favourite colour is RED, so what other colour would I use for this design of car, Rosie told me it looks like a Thelma and Louise kinda image.

But it's not for Thelma or Louise, it's a Father's day card for my Hubby who saw the image finished after I had fully covered it in gloss. He said "Ooo I like that", He hasn't seen the finished product, so it's off away for Father's Day. But the whole car is coated in 3D gloss and the only embellies for this card is a bit of ribbon and some metal brads. But I actually don't think it needs anything else. I find it hard to get male embellishments, not much around.
